Abstract:
A laboratory experiment was conducted to screen different fungal and bacterial isolates, i.e. Trichoderma viride, Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas flourescens [Pseudomonas fluorescens] and a soil isolate of Agrobacterium tumefaciens by prick inoculation of the stem of 25-day-old tomato plants. Subsequently, the pathogenic A. tumefaciens isolate was applied on the same wounds at 24 h after inoculation of the different antagonists. No galls developed on the tomato stem. No development of galls or retarded growth of galls was considered as a positive sign towards the antagonistic activity of the tested microorganisms.
