Steve Goddard'ın Journey to Constantinople adlı kitabından aldığım resime ilişkin orijinal bilgi notu.
"A Turkish Burial
The manner in which the Turks make their funerals, and the fashion of the ceremony, and how they carry their dead to the grave with green branches in their hands, followed by a horse (as a bearer of grief) covered with black cloth. Around their tombs or graves many cypress trees are planted, among which they pray for their deceased. They climb these trees annually looking at each one of them and noting upon whose grave the highest tree has grown, bypassing the others, thinking and believing that the soul of the person buried beneath that tree is of higher glory than the others whose trees are less developed."
