R. chinensis viridiflora
This has to be the most peculiar China rose of all! Instead of being made up of normal petals, the blossoms are made entirely of sepals, all of them grass green! The blooms last longer than any other rose I know, often six weeks or more. There is a peppery scent to the blooms if you rub them with your fingers. This makes an attractive, tidy shrub for small gardens or in pots for the patio.
Our plants of The Green Rose are 5 to 9 inches tall in bands or 4 inch pots. In the spring, the plants may be slightly smaller, while later in the season, they may be larger. These are one to two year old plants grown on their own roots. To minimize the amount of soil shipped and therefore the shipping expense, these plants are smaller than typical grafted varieties purchased at local garden centers.
